Malta Unrepentant aims to be the best source for fact-based analysis, commentary and thoughts on economic, political, social, environmental and cultural issues directly related to Malta.
The website at maltaunrepentant.com has recently been launched, although it should be considered to be in beta as it is still (sort of) under construction. The snap election, which found us as prepared as the Nationalist opposition, forced our hand; but we will still do our best to provide insightful analysis and thought provoking commentary also with regards to this event.
Our first article grapples with the question of whether the Maltese Economy is experiencing a period of particularly strong growth and whether the notion of a Maltese Economic Miracle is warranted or not.
Economics and the Economy will probably feature prominently in our articles as another post delineates Malta's GDP growth rate (in real terms) from 1971 to 2016. This analysis groups years in this period by parliamentary terms (in Malta) and compares the average results to those obtained by the EU and the World for the same time periods. This is the first part of an exercise meant to provide context to the current economic performance both to verify whether Malta's Economic miracle is a myth or reality, and to fairly evaluate the incumbent government's economic performance in view of the next general election.
The Angry, the Proud, and the Frustrated is about ...oh well I'm not gonna tell you, just read it!
At Malta Unrepentant we are not going to be talking only about the next election, and we plan to keep posting even after that is over. We are also going to tackle a of subjects not just the economy. Planning, development, urbanisation, and over-development will definitely be an area where we plan to bring our different perspective and unique contribution. In this commentary we introduce our view of the correct way to manage Malta's land resources and deal with over-development.
These are the first 4 Articles available on Malta Unrepentant, go check the site, bookmark it, like the facebook page, and/or the google+ page if you think you might be interested and do not want to lose sight of us.
